Now that the laundry area and bathroom renovat…

Now that the laundry area and bathroom renovations are done, I can finally start on the dance wood scrollsaw wall art project. @cgb0720 and I found a metal wall art piece that we liked, except that it was metal. We’re both more “wood people” 😉
So I’ve modified a picture of the piece a bit, highlighted the outlines and taken a little artistic liberty, scanned it back in and blew it up to 36×12" with @matthiaswandel ’s BigPrint program. Printed taped and looks pretty good against the wall.
I’ve been doing math and measuring, trying to figure out how many and what size scrolling blanks I’ll need.
The big tree on the left will be native, on the right is walnut and the little guy in the foreground will be big lead maple burl. The trunks of all will be wenge. You can see the samples on the counter in the picture. I’ll be edge jointing and resawing each piece to ¼", book matching and either hand or machine planing them even (and sanding, etc). The goal is to have a really smooth grain pattern to start with on each ¼" thick blank, then do the scroll work. All of these will be adhered to a birch backing and frame probably in walnut.
