By popular demand, here is a video of the bandsaw log mill in action. It works!
Adjustment between cuts takes a little time, but it’s pretty simple. Just loosen the hand screws and slide the log forward. Whatever overhangs the sled is what gets cut off. Nice parallel cuts too.
I sliced this maple log into 4 pieces, the two sides will be firewood (unless someone has a better idea for them) and the 2 center are usable slabs. Moisture meter says this wood is at 11% right now, so still a little dry time before it’s ready to make charcuterie boards. There’s some serious splitting going on too, so I’ll have to figure that out. I should have had these cut and drying immediately, but you know, life and stuff.
Beech logs up next!
