Here are a few glamor shots of my final commission of 2017. Finally finished and off to their new owners in, you guessed it, Mississippi. I was pretty excited to learn that a chef will be using one of my boards.
On this board, I selected pieces of walnut and maple that had bold grain patterns. Although this style board with the gradient/fade design looks good with any light and dark unfigured woods, I wanted to practice a bit with the artistic display of continuous grain patterns.
The results, I think, were great. This board offers multiple focus points and each is equally eye catching: the light/dark gradient, the Birdseye ish maple pattern and the curving waves of grain in the walnut. The observer is able to complete the disrupted patterns in their mind while appreciating the contrast.
The other pieces are a custom cedar grill scraper and my first ever Mississippi wall mounted bottle opener. Very happy with how each turned out and I hope they are enjoyed for years to come.
